The third installment in the Dusk saga and the 16th game in the Atelier RPG series, Atelier Shallie: Alchemist of the Dusk Sea is one of the most feature-rich and complete titles in the series. With a beautiful anime-inspired style, an atmospheric soundtrack, a moving narrative, and a deep alchemy system with a wealth of possibilities, the game is one of the strongest representations of what the Atelier series has to offer. The story takes place ten years after Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk and six years after Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky. The main characters, Shallistera and Shallote, are bound together by the threads of fate as they fight to save their hometown, which is facing a severe drought. They put their trust in the powers of alchemy, but their journey is not without danger. Through their experiences and growing friendship, their lives will be changed forever. In keeping with the series’ focus on choice, players will be able to follow the story through two different protagonists, each with their own skills, narrative, and adventures. The game world has been significantly expanded with larger areas and an even wider variety of resources and materials to collect. A new system called the “Life Task System” makes it easier to keep track of tasks and objectives. Depending on how the player chooses to play, the game’s progression will change - for example, a combat-focused approach will lead to more combat-related tasks. The world, monsters, and items dynamically adapt, creating a unique gameplay experience. These life tasks are essential, and failure to complete them will have consequences.
